American politician, author, lawyer, and Marine Corps veteran James David Vance was born on August 2, 1984. He is currently vying to become President Donald Trump’s 50th vice president. He has a law degree from Yale Law School and a bachelor’s degree from Ohio State University. He will serve as Ohio’s representative in the U.S. Senate from 2023 to 2025.
Vance defeated Democratic candidate Tim Ryan to win the Ohio U.S. Senate election in 2022. Vance left the Army in 2007 and enrolled at Ohio State University to study philosophy and political science. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in 2009, he moved on to Yale Law School. Professor Amy Chua inspired Vance to write his memoir, Hillbilly Elegy.
