He made his Broadway debut as Gavroche in Les Misérables (2014–15) and as Benjamin in Priscilla, Queen of the Desert (2011–12). Matarazzo rose to fame playing Dustin Henderson in the Netflix science-fiction-horror drama series Stranger Things (2016–present).

He also hosted the Netflix series Prank Encounters from 2019 to 2021. In 2022, he voiced Boris the Dragon in the animated fantasy comedy My Father Dragon and co-starred in the coming-of-age comedy Honor Society.

Gaten Matarazzo Career

Matarazzo is a talented singer who trained at the Starlight Performing Arts Center in New Jersey. In 2011, he attended the Starpower Talent Competition Nationals and became well known for his work in the Broadway production of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. He played Gavroche in the 25th-anniversary tour of Les Misérables in 2013 and participated in the special “Cast of 2032” youth performance of Godspell in 2012.

In 2015, Matarazzo made his on-screen debut playing Dustin Henderson in Stranger Things. He has appeared in reality and competition shows, music videos, and the 2018 animated film Hump. He hosted and executive produced the Netflix series Prank Encounters in 2019, which featured hidden cameras.

Additionally, Matarazzo voiced Bubba in The Angry Birds Movie 2 and starred in the Hollywood Bowl production of Into the Woods. Matarazzo returned to Broadway in May 2022, playing Jared Kleinman in the final cast of Dear Evan Hansen. Charity

Matarazzo uses his position to promote CCD and raise money for CCD Smiles, a charity that pays for oral surgery for people with the condition. He participated in SW: A New(sickle) Hope, a Star Wars musical parody fundraiser that raised money for NEXT for Autism, in February 2020.

To support the Democratic Party of Georgia’s campaign in the 2021 Georgia runoff elections, he joined the Elf cast for a virtual table reading in December 2020. Matarazzo participated in The Tonight Show’s charity Among Us stream on Twitch in April 2021, the proceeds of which went to Feeding America.

He participated in the Lost Odyssey: Promised Gold live stream event in December 2021, raising money for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and Extra Life by playing Dungeons & Dragons. He participated in the Music Parade in November 2022 to help New York City Center provide performing arts to fans at an affordable price.
