Born in 2000, Stella Rose Bennett grew up in a musical family in Auckland, New Zealand. At the age of eight, she began learning the guitar, and in high school, she began learning the saxophone. She decided to write and record music at the age of 17. She was a student at St Mary’s College, a Catholic all-girls institution where music learning was compulsory for four years.
In her senior year of high school, Benny began her music career by creating her own songs and sharing covers on SoundCloud. She decided to pursue a career in music after dropping out of Auckland University of Technology to pursue a degree in communications.

Benee Relationships and Disorders
The popular song “Supalonely” was written after a breakup, according to New Zealand singer Benee, who has talked about how breakups and personal experiences have influenced her music. In an Apple podcast, she also spoke about how depression and anxiety affected her relationships. She also sang her song “Never Ending” on Triple J’s segment and covered Ariana Grande’s song “God Is a Woman”. “Good Bye My Old Life” with Deaton Chris Anthony, “Easy Life” with OTT, “I’m So Happy” with Jeremy Zucker and a remix of “Lots of Nothing” with Spacey were among the collaborative songs she released in 2022.
She performed at the 22nd Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in early 2023 and released “Green Honda”, the lead single from her upcoming second album. She and Mallrat released “Do It Again”, the official song of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, in June. She revealed in March 2024 that she would tour North America with Wallows, co-write the song “How Sweet” for Newseens, and join Olivia Rodrigo on the Australian leg of her Guts World Tour.
